First time this season performing a sprint session.
Actually I have been very laxed on cardio/conditioning in general in recent months with having the flu and burning a ton of calories each day through work-related activity.
So today’s session was a far cry from last summers forays when I was banging out 24 sprints of 100M in the July/August/September heat—with quite a bit more intensity and edge I might add.
Today was just 10 sprints of 100M. Intensity was probably averaging around 70-80% overall.
But, to everything there is a season. I will slowly ramp up the intensity and the volume as spring and summer approach. Hopefully, I will still have the same speed and hopefully I haven’t lost a step. 😀
Honestly last year at 44-45 I feel like I was possibly at my fastest and with my most applied intensity yet.
Like anything in life with continual progression, focus and practice, improvement will come through the power of momentum. The calendar will roll and time will move on, but this moment, this action or decision is yours.
I do understand that father time is ever present and at some point he will get the best of me (and you too), but there is absolutely no discord, prior regret or fight from me with what is and will be.
I will continue to enjoy the blessings of great health and energy everyday I have them, respecting the true gifts I have been given.
Effort, application (showing up everyday) respect, grace and appreciation for what I have is my focus. There is beauty and wisdom in the passage of time and no matter what your life situation is, you still can do excellent things. It simply comes down to a decision.
What was, is over, what will be is very much affected by what you are doing in this very moment.
