In the pursuit of your aspirations, goals and dreams, it almost is never enough to strive for them without having a compelling purpose that excites.
Basic motivation, temporary inspirations are usually not quite enough. Continuous, long-term quests for personal ambitions need that driving force of a stimulating purpose.
Oftentimes our big, intoxicating goals and endeavors can be overwhelming. We see that big picture, but don’t know exactly how or where to begin. Even the thought of putting together a plan can feel paralyzing, the end-result seems like a distant, far-flung, shinning star.
Regardless of whether your goal is something modest like making it through another work day, or something larger like becoming an astronaut, we must look at the desired outcome, and then both forge our path through planning, and also taking a step, an action towards it.
If your goal is audacious, like becoming an astronaut, I believe it is necessary to compartmentalize time and energy.
Becoming an astronaut is going to take a long term plan, so with that goal in mind, let’s think in terms of 13 weeks.
There are 6, 13 week quarters in 18 months/ (a year and a half= 78 Weeks.)
We probably underestimate what we can do in that time frame.
You could obtain a degree.
Lose a significant amount of weight.
Meet someone special and develop an awesome relationship/friendship.
Fluently speak, read and write a new language.
Learn a new instrument.
The possibilities are endless.
You could even be well on your way to becoming an astronaut!
