Dudes love to bench.
Women generally trend toward prioritizing lower body, but guys seem to focus on the opposite.
They love push-ups.
They love to curl a barbell or dumbbells, they love to pump the arms with some triceps movement.
Some even have a love/hate relationship with deadlifts.
Being a former member of commercial gyms for decades on end, when I really think about it, looking back, there were some of my fellow pay by the month gentlemen comrades that I actually never saw within feet of the squat rack.
Some would occasionally do a few sets of leg presses, or some seated calf raises, but a surprising amount never gave leg-work any sort of priority or thought.
There were a small percentage that dutifully would include lower-body training in their templates, usually athletes, or power-lifters. Progressive squats for those working toward a power-lifting competition (along with a couple accessory movements.) Strength-work, combined with explosive plyo-metric work for the athletes, but by in large, the “I Want To Look Good For The Nightclub” segment, The dating app crowd, etc. all but ignored lower-body training.
For the last several years, I have gone back to the woodshed and focused on a singular question.
“How in the hell should a NATURAL, I repeat, NATURAL, human being train, eat & live for optimum aesthetics and be strong as hell in the process, with incredible energy, vitality, stamina and longevity?”
I have absolutely no interest or concern with those that are using pharmaceutical enhancements, my quest has been “How in the hell should a NATURAL human being train, eat & live for optimum aesthetics and be strong as hell in the process, with incredible energy, vitality, stamina and longevity?”
