Making up three-quarters of the upper-arm, the triceps are responsible for a huge percentage of your total power output in terms of anterior push.
This three-pronged muscle-complex serves as the fundamental mover each time you extend your elbow.—needless to say, not only a cog in total pushing strength, but also extremely influential in regards to absolute visual impact.
Well-defined triceps scream of strength and concentrated effort and work.
When I first started training years ago, they were probably the first muscle that noticeably responded for me, in particular, the lateral head.
After a few weeks of pushing movements (bench press, military press etc) I noticed a distinct “line” on the back of my upper-arm and it looked very cool!
That was probably when I first became hooked on sculpting my physique.
Through time, I found that experimenting with increasingly challenging compound exercises (and sprinkling in some isolation movements), my triceps seemed to grow each week.
Next time, I’m going to discuss what I think in my experiences and opinion are the very best triceps exercises for absolute strength and aesthetics.
Just a hint, push-downs will definitely not make this list. 😀
