A couple years ago I decided to read Ben Franklin’s autobiography.
I have always been fascinated with his life and the amazing accomplishments he achieved.
He was truly a “Renaissance Man” with varied interests and passions.
Something that stood out to me was at a very young age he decided to develop a system to attempt to be the best man he could be.
The system he settled upon was thirteen virtues that if mastered would evolve him into a most honorable human being.
Each week he would focus on one in particular with a secondary eye on the other twelve. He kept a simple chart and would put a check mark if he came up short. Thirteen is a perfect number not only for the values but for the weeks as this gives complete focus to each value four times per year (13 weeks x 4 times per year = 52 weeks.)
The virtues are as follows:
While some of the above directly translates into the health & fitness arena, I think we can break each virtue down further for implementation into this passion we share for optimal health.
Starting tomorrow, I will relate how each of the thirteen values can translate into your fitness goals and journey.
Follow along, and further enhance your fitness odyssey.
