Every night before I shut the business down, I make a baked chicken salad.
After the trials & tribulations of the day, this is a great reward that (along with a glass or two of Cabernet) totally fits my macros.
I always look forward to this meal, more than any other, as most of my other meals earlier in the day are less tasteful and more for function.
I have a routine to shutting down my business that can vary by the day, but is pretty standard. The process can take some time depending, but after all this time is fairly automatic.
The commute home is also kind of robotic.
I lock up, throw my belongings in the back seat, seat belt, back out of the driveway, 24 minutes to my sanctuary.
As I get closer to home, usually when I’m about 2 miles out, I go through another checklist, and last night was no exception.
“Did I turn off the fryers?” “Did I set up the register?” “Did I lock the door?” “Did I remember my bag, my salad?”
I forgot my damn salad.
Looks like scrambled eggs are for dinner.
